The MIPS IT has secured three, two bedroom, two bath apartments at the Post Paseo Colorado in Pasadena. They are located above a brand new outdoor shopping mall situated between Colorado and Green streets, just west of Los Robles.
The apartments are all in the West wing of the complex. Each apartment has four keys that can access the rooms, and two mailbox keys. We suggest that at least one mailbox key be left inside the apartment. The mailboxes are located just inside the gated entrance access to the street (not the garage), closest to the apartment.
Post Paseo Colorado shopping mallAccess into the complex requires a white electronic gate card. This includes the elevators and the street gates. You can place the card in your wallet like a credit card and then just swipe your wallet in front of the pad - we have images of neither the pad nor the cards... Maybe we should hire another photographer. This card also enables access from the public parking garage; from there, follow the large and obvious signs (it's the white splotch on the big orange pillar...) into the (fenced off) private garage area. There will be four cards per apartment.
Each apartment is fully furnished and stocked with kitchen
utensils, microwave, dishwasher, stove and refrigerator. It is your
responsibility to ensure that dishes are kept clean. There is also a
clothes washer and dryer. Digital cable, a TV and a VCR are in each
living room. Here are some kitchen action shots
Each bedroom and
bathroom is equipped with linens, and two
sets of sheets are supplied. Please put fresh sheets on the bed before
you leave Also, unless there simply is no time, be sure to wash the
sheets. More bedroom and
bathroom shots.
Apartments are equiped with a living room and a dining area. We've got digital cable along with its attendant all Heavy Metal digital radio. RAWK ON!
The apartments will be allocated via a sign-out sheet in room 260 (see Leanne). Dean Hines will be permanently assigned to the corner.
Each apartment has a bare minimum of supplies. Dishwashing soap, sponge and towels are provided, but the first occupant will have to supply additional soap and laundry detergent. A broom and mop are provided for clean-ups.
Parking for up to two cars per apartment is allowed, with entry into the main lot from either Green street or Colorado. Access into the parking area requires a white hands free card that is supplied by the city of Pasadena. We could only get three cards total. This card MUST be attached to the front window, set on the dashboard, or held by the edges in the window (never mind the dusty dash board) as you approach the gate. Further, you must enter a gate that has a graphic tulip above it (dont enter or exit the express lanes which are only for season passes, not apartment residents (actually, I left through those with no problems - it had a tulip above it. Basically enter and exit through a lane with a tulip above it).
Once inside the public area, proceed down to the second level. Go to the far west gate and swipe your apartment entry white card past the sensor. Find a parking place. Be sure to display you parking permit (green sticky thing - sorry, no picture. Blame the official MIPS photographer *cough*karlito*cough*) We have arranged a rear-view mirror hanger for each permit. DO NOT FORGET THIS PERMIT.
You will not need the apartment white card to leave the private area, but you will have to display the hands free card to pass through the exit gate from the public garage (again through a gate with the tulip graphic).
T1 ethernet access to the internet is available in each apartment. We have installed routers (really, it'll be neater this time... John and Dean - don't touch the cables!) that enable DHCP access through three ports in the apartment, one in the living room and one in each bedroom. The T1 ports are color-coded blue on the wall outlets. An additional T1 port in the living room is dedicated to a resident desktop linux box.
A housekeeper will maintain the apartments every other week. However, as mentioned above, it is your responsibility to leave the apartments clean and ready for the next occupant. [It's a good idea to label food with your name and a date].
