The MIPS Apartments - How to Get There
The apartments are located in downtown Pasadena, in the Paseo Colorado
shopping mall. The mall is bounded by Colorado Blvd., Los Robles Av.,
E. Green St., and N. Marengo Ave. on the north, east, south, and west
respectively. The map linked here shows
the downtown pasadena street and highway system. The map below shows
in detail the location of the apartments, the parking garage entrance,
the elevator, the pedestrian door, and the rough locations of the 3
apartments, the hallway layout, and the location of Gelson's market.

How to Get Inside -- Driving
From the corner of Green and Marengo go east on Green (it is 1-way east), and enter the parking garage entrance directly across from Euclid Ave. (Alternately come north on Euclid and cross Green to enter the garage.)
After entering use the "hands-free" access card (the thick one in a holder) to get the gate to go up (hold it up to the windshield, and approach the gate closely). The hands-free card works only at gates with a white monitor device on the ceiling above the gate. You will use this card to get back out of the parking structure without paying, too.
After entering bear left and head downwards, at each of 3 opportunities (a left at the entrance, and 2 left downward U-turns as soon as possible). After the 3rd left you will see a heavy black gate directly ahead. Approach the gate and use the second access card (the thin, plain white one) by waving it in front of the panel to the left of the gate. The heavy gate will move aside, and the arm-gate will then lift out of the way.
The elevators are right next to the gate where you just entered. Park nearby and come back to the elevators. Use the thin access card again at the panel by the elevator, and then ALSO push the elevator call button. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor.
How to Get Inside -- Walking
The pedestrian entrance (275 E. Green) is just west of Gelson's market (245 E. Green, at corner w/ Marengo) - look for a tall, ornate wrought-iron gate. Use the thin access card (same as for the elevator) and wave it in front of the panel to the left of the gate. You can then open it and go down a short hallway to the elevator. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor.
Guests can get in by going to the pedestrian gate and using the keypad to enter the last 4 digits of the phone number of the apartment they want to visit. Phone numbers appear above.
NOTE:It is really hard to walk from the street to your car or vice-versa. Best bet is to just use the elevator. You can't activate the auto gate with just a card - you need a ton or so of steel too, as there is a car sensor in the roadway...
Inside
Exit the elevator and turn right/east down the hallway. Pass a 4-way intersection (to right is the interior terrace, to left is Green St. terrace). To get to 1333, go right at the next intersection. To get to 1344 and 1345 go straight instead of turning down that hall, and go left at the next opportunity - the doors are straight ahead.
