MIPS_220a MIPS Slew State

IOC-MIPS_220a     10130C, or new
Title:   MIPS Slew State Validation

Objective:   Verify that the baseline slew state for MIPS works and does what is planned.

Description:   Place MIPS into nominal slew state and make several slews over regions of different brightness'.
This will be done by taking observations of dark regions positioned on the sky such that the slew path is predetermined.
In between slews make an observation of a dark region to look for slew artifacts.
CTA and instrument should be a nominal operating temperature to allow detection of small effects.

Place in Schedule:   After aperture door open
    After CTA/instrument cool down:
For 24um, the backgrd radiance must be less than 1.0E-11 W/cm2/sr (< 30K).
    For 70um, the backgrd radiance must be less than 1.0E-12 W/cm2/sr (< 12 K).
    For 160um, the backgrd radiance must be less than 5.4E-13 W/cm2/sr (< 6 K).
It may be possible to split this test into parts executed a different times based
on telescope temperature, but mapping in all three bands is optimal use of time.
Basic instrument commanding and functionality must have been confirmed.
After initial Phot/SR AOT testing is complete.
Before final operational parameters are set and instrument tuning complete.

Required Conditions:   CTA and instrument at nominal operational temperature.
PCS performance:   Minimal PCS peformance required.

Resources:
  duration (best estimate)         0.5 hrs
  real time downlink (Y / N)         No
special post event actions (Y / N)         No

Outcome:
description         Several Phot/SR AOTs will be executed. Standard data produces will result.
can proceed in parallel with other activity         No, dedicated observing.
must outcome be confirmed before next event / test /activity         No
method of confirmation (sensor TLM, data analysis, etc.)         Data analysis
estimate of data turn around if required for confirmation         48 hrs

Unique or included in planned uplink or downlink/analysis tool           Standard pipeline and data analysis tools.
            MIPS Phot/SR AOT required

Contingency Plan:           Revisit instrument state during slews.
"What if..."           Consider different reset rates, or other options.
