MIPS_265a Confusion Level

IOC-MIPS_265a     10720C
Title:   MIPS Scan to Determine Confusion Limits

Objective:   Deep observations at 70 and 160 microns to estimate the MIPS confusion
limits at three galactic latitudes (low background, high, and intermediate).

Description:   Acquire normal scan observations at 70 and 160 microns of three 5 arcmin X 0.5 degree fields
at, or near the galactic pole, the equator, and an intermediate position.

Can be the same as:   Verify pipeline -- Scan

Three identical AORs executed at three different pointings:
Slow scan rate, 0.5 degree leg length (full coverage), 4 up and back scan legs with minimum offset step

Place in Schedule:   After CTA/instrument cool down and all other instrument testing is complete.
For 160 um performance, the backgrd radiance must be less than 5.2E-13 W/cm2/sr (< 6 K).
Can be concurrent with other AOT/instrument tests.

Required Conditions:   CTA and instrument at nominal operating temperature for the 160 um band (< 6 K).
PCS performance needs to be nominal in pointing, offsetting, and scan stability.

Resources:
  duration (best estimate)         2 hours
  real time downlink (Y / N)         No
special post event actions (Y / N)         No

Outcome:
description         Fully calibrated MIPS scan data products in three bands.
can proceed in parallel with other activity         No - dedicated observing
must outcome be confirmed before next event / test /activity         No
method of confirmation (sensor TLM, data analysis, etc.)         Data analysis
estimate of data turn around if required for confirmation         7 days

Unique or included in planned uplink or downlink/analysis tool           Standard pipeline system and standard data analysis tools required.
MIPS scan AOT required for uplink.

Contingency Plan:
"What if..."         Revisit pipeline and/or AOT design depending on the nature of a failure.

IOC Critical         No
