MIPS_270a Evaluate AOT - TPM

IOC-MIPS_270a     10750C
Title:   MIPS Total Power Measurement at the Ecliptic Pole.

Objective:   Evaluate skeleton AOT -- MIPS TPM

Description:   Acquire normal TPM observations of a nominally dark region -- the ecliptic pole.
This observation will test the AOT and determine how dark the inside of the instrument
actually is at 160 um, evaluating the utility of this mode at 160 um.
Standard mode TPM AOR repeated until required S/N is achieved.

Can be the same as:   Verify pipeline -- TPM

Place in Schedule:   After aperture door open
After CTA/instrument cool down and all other instrument testing is complete.
For 24um, the backgrd radiance must be less than 1.0E-11 W/cm2/sr (< 30K).
    For 70um, the backgrd radiance must be less than 1.0E-12 W/cm2/sr (< 12 K).
    For 160um, the backgrd radiance must be less than 5.4E-13 W/cm2/sr (< 6 K).
It may be possible to split this test into parts executed a different times based
on telescope temperature, but simultaneous use of all three bands is a better use of time.
Location of MIPS apertures must be completed.
Can be concurrent with other AOT/instrument tests.

Required Conditions:   CTA and instrument at nominal operating temperature for the 160 um band (< 6 K).
PCS performance:   Minimal PCS peformance required.

Resources:

  duration (best estimate)         40 minutes
  real time downlink (Y / N)         No
special post event actions (Y / N)         No

Outcome:
description         Fully calibrated MIPS TPM data products in three bands, or
whatever is available from skeleton pipeline.
can proceed in parallel with other activity         No - dedicated observing
must outcome be confirmed before next event / test /activity         No
method of confirmation (sensor TLM, data analysis, etc.)         Data analysis
estimate of data turn around if required for confirmation         48 hrs

Unique or included in planned uplink or downlink/analysis tool           Standard pipeline system and standard data analysis tools required.
MIPS skeleton TPM AOT required for uplink.

Contingency Plan:           Revisit pipeline and/or AOT design depending on the nature of failure.
