MIPS_345a 24um Operating Temp

IOC-MIPS_345a     10470C
Title:   Optimum Operating Temperature for the MIPS 24um Array

Objective:   Determine what temperature yields the best overall performance of the 24um array.

Description:     Dark current, responsivity, and latent image behavior need to be characterized as a function
including flow / state diagram     of detector operating temperature.
At each of five detector temperature settings (use same set as in thermal-vac):
Take 25 30-second exposures with the scan mirror in the dark position.
Using the 10 second exposures, measure a moderately bright star using a 4x4 dither pattern.
Move the scan mirror to place the 160um array into the dark.
Take 25 10-second exposures with the 160um array to check for scattered emission
        from the 24um array.

Place in Schedule:   After aperture door is opened.
(relative to water shed events)

Required Conditions:   Basic MIPS operation must be confirmed including detector and electronics aliveness tests.
MIPS 24um aperture must have been located.
Background must be less than 2e-8 W/cm^2/sr
      or T<6.5K
Resources:

  duration (best estimate)         1.5 hr
  real time downlink (Y / N)         no
special post event actions (Y / N)         no
  Generates 330 DCEs.

Outcome:
description         Best temperature setting for the 24um array will be known.
can proceed in parallel with other activity       No, requires some dedicated pointing.
must outcome be confirmed before next event / test /activity         No
method of confirmation (sensor TLM, data analysis, etc.)         data analysis
estimate of data turn around if required for confirmation         N/A

Unique or included in planned AOT?
Will use dark current IER, photometry AOT
