Planetary Disks

In this historic painting of a debris disk circulating around a central star, Hieronymous Bosch provided the concept for our program on planetary disks, both debris and around very young stars. But why did he name it "The Seven Deadly Sins???" He could not have been a closet extragalactic astronomer because external galaxies had not yet been discovered! In any case, click on the appropriate zone in his picture to learn about the corresponding part of our program.
