SIRTF IOC Activity

CAID: MIPS-115 Title: 24um Detector Response to Stims

System: MIPS Principal: dlp Deputy: jmuzerolle
Objective:
Demonstrate that the MIPS arrays respond to
stimulators being turned on.

Description:
The CSMM is positioned at the 24um dark position
and one of the four 24um stimulator states
(flat-low,
flat-high, flood-low, flood-high) is
turned on for 3 DCEs, and then turned off for an
equivalent number of DCEs. The process is
repeated with all 4 of the 24um stim states.
Housekeeping data regarding the stimulator
voltages
and/or currents should be monitored.

Day:   33.0631944444467 Suggested Order:   E200

Must be preceded by these activities (list by CAID):   MIPS-100

Place in Schedule:   After aperture has been opened.

Priority:   Critical

Conditions

Maximum telescope temperature: 33 K

Minimum telescope temperature: 5.5 K

Should activity be repeated if focus changes?   No     Repeat if focus changes by 0 mm

Maximum absolute pointing uncertainty: 100 arcsec (1 sigma radial)

Maximum precision offset uncertainty: 100 arcsec  (1 sigma radial)

Observatory configuration: Standard

Go/No Go criteria: CSMM, CE, and detectors must be operational, instrument and telescope temperatures must be stable and within range.

Resources

Duration:   20 minutes

Real time downlink:   No

Data Volume (uncompressed): 19.5 Mbits

List Blocks, AORs, SERs, IERs, or unique sequences required (uplink): IER

List Analysis tools required (downlink):   Comparison w/ stim brightness measured on ground desirable.Inspection of frames adequate to determine if stims functioned.

Outcome

Estimate of data turn around:   1 hours

Description: Confirmation that stimulators can be detected.

Can proceed in parallel with other activity: Yes

Must outcome be confirmed before next activity: No

Method of Confirmation:   Inspection of frames, comparison w/ test data. Inspection of stim TLM.

Success criteria: Telemetry indicates stims were activated, and light from the stims was unambiguously detected on the 24um array.

Contingency plan:  Verify agreement between telemetry and signal on array. If stim was 'on' and no light was detected flag that stim as inoperative. If light was detected and telemetry indicates a failure, track telemetry error. If stim brightness is anomalous, activity may need to be repeated w/ different stim voltage.

Additional Comments:
Generates 24 DCEs worth of 24um SUR data. Discussion: Required Conditions: MIPS detector aliveness tests must have been performed. Backgrounds reaching the detector at the 24um dark position must be less than 1/2 saturation. Taking 10 as the attenuation achieved at the dark position, this requires the telescope temperature to be at or below 50K. Success Criteria: Telemetry indicates stims were activated, and light from the stims was unambiguously detected on the 24um array. Possible failure modes are: Telemetry indicates any stim was not activated when it should have been. Light from any stim not detected. Stim detected, but telemetry indicates it was not active. Stim detected, but signal is significantly different than expected from ground test.
