This meta task examines existing MIPS data to assess the effects of cosmic rays.
We will use archived MIPS data from IOC to assess the effects of cosmic rays on the data. The analysis will be similar to that done for the arrays during ground testing - see the report generated by the MIPS IT for details.
The array data most likely to be useful for the cosmic-ray effect analysis will be the electronic linearity correction data. These data will include many DCEs at each of several stim levels and thus are useful for detecting when a cosmic ray hit has increased the responsivity.
Array Data Desired:
All Arrays
Data Reformatting Option:
Special Instructions:
none
none
The data will be analyzed in a fashion similar to that used in the report generated by the MIPS team during ground testing (MIPS CAID 01.08 and 01.10). In summary, the data will be examined for cosmic ray effects such as transients and responsivity changes. The analysis will also determine a typical radhit rate and hit size spectrum for each array.
