Sequencer Site SIRTF IOC Activity c. 2002

CAID: MIPS-248 Title: 160 um stim response

System: MIPS Principal: jstansberry Deputy: dfrayer
Objective:
Demonstrate that the MIPS Ge arrays respond
to
stimulators being turned on, and determine
that
all the stims work. Also, verify that the output
of the stims is approximately what it was on
the
ground by operating the primary stimulators at
3
different DAC settings.

Description:
4 sets of 31 3 second DCEs are taken, each
set
having
Ge stim flashes every 5 DCEs (plus the first).
The CSMM is positioned at the zero-current
position. In the first set the 160
Flood A stim is configured. In the second set
the Flood B stim is configured. In the third set
the 160 Flood A stim is configured using a
DAC
setting that will approximately halve the stim
output compared to he nominal DAC setting.
For the
next set of DCEs the160 Flood A stim is
configured using a DAC setting that will
approximately quarter the stim output
compared to
the nominal DAC setting. Housekeeping data
regarding the stimulator voltages/current for
all
sets of DCEs should be monitored.

Maximum precision offset uncertainty: 100 arcsec  (1 sigma radial)

Observatory configuration: standard

Go/No Go criteria: CSMM, CE, and detectors must be operational, instrume telescope temperatures must be w/in range.

Resources

Duration:   10 minutes

Real time downlink:   No

Data Volume (uncompressed): 110 Mbits

List Blocks, AORs, SERs, IERs, or unique sequences required (uplink): IER

List Analysis tools required (downlink):   Pipeline and/or UofA DAT output. UofA data visualizer (xsloper_view). Need housekeeping data re. stims.

Outcome

Estimate of data turn around:   2 hours

Description: Confirmation that stimulators were detected

Can proceed in parallel with other activity: No

Must outcome be confirmed before next activity: No

Method of Confirmation:   Data analysis and sensor TLM confirms that stims were commanded on and that light from the stims was detected in all cases.

Success criteria: Telemetry indicates stims were activated, and light from the stims was unambiguously detected on the relevant array. Output from 160 flood A stim is basically in agreement with the output observ

Contingency plan:  Verify agreement between telemetry and signal on array. If stim was 'on' and no light was detected flag that stim as inoperative. If light was detected and telemetry indicates a failure, track telemetry error. If stim brightness is anomalous, activity may need to be repeated w/ different stim voltage, and the flux response linearity activities (MIPS-315, MIPS-400, dhines principle) will need to be updated, as will AOT validations at 160 microns.

Additional Comments:
This activity could be done using 3sec DCEs. Current expansion file (~stansber/MIPS/IOC/mips_ier248.exp) uses 10sec DCEs. Telescope temperature for this test could be higher, possibly as high as 9K, and still allow the aliveness of the stims to be verified.
