Sequencer Site SIRTF IOC Activity c. 2002

CAID: MIPS-261 Title: Read Noise Stability 1

System: MIPS Principal: kgordon Deputy: jmuzerolle
Objective:
The stability of read noise and dark current
are
measured. This is part 1 of the task and part
2 is MIPS-262.

Description:
The stability of read noise over time is
measured with these three tasks. The
stability of the dark current versus time
will be measured using the standard dark
calibration observations (taken every
campaign). The variation of read noise
and dark current as a function of time
since anneal is measured in MIPS-160.
This task and two others
(MIPS-160,MIPS-261,MIPS-
262) measure the read noise stability
over longer time scales: 1 day and 1 week.
The detailed scheduling of these three tasks
is not important as along as the combination
of the three tasks gives the needed
separations.

Outline of the Task:
This task should use the Read Noise IERs
and take the equivelant of the following (10
sec
integration).

      Do a thermal anneal
run all the read noise IERs (all exposure
times
and
dark positions)

Day:   76.6569444444467 Suggested Order:   O025

Must be preceded by these activities (list by CAID):

Place in Schedule:   This task should be done 1 day after MIPS-160.

Priority:   Desired

Conditions

Maximum telescope temperature: 6.5 K

Minimum telescope temperature: 5.5 K

Should activity be repeated if focus changes?   No     Repeat if focus changes by 0 mm

Maximum absolute pointing uncertainty: 3600 arcsec (1 sigma radial)

Maximum precision offset uncertainty: 3600 arcsec  (1 sigma radial)

Observatory configuration: Standard

Go/No Go criteria: Array temperatures must be stable, detectors must be functioning nominally

Resources

Duration:   60 minutes

Real time downlink:   No

Data Volume (uncompressed): 1216 Mbits

List Blocks, AORs, SERs, IERs, or unique sequences required (uplink): Anneal & Dark IERs

List Analysis tools required (downlink):   Standard MIPS data reduction pipeline

Outcome

Estimate of data turn around:   192 hours

Description: Run data through pipeline. Compute the read noise and compare to the other two related tasks.

Can proceed in parallel with other activity: Yes

Must outcome be confirmed before next activity: No

Method of Confirmation:   data analysis

Success criteria: Good measurements of read noise for all three tasks (MIPS-160,261,262).

Contingency plan:  If this test fails to execute or if it gives ambiguous answers, the standard 10 second read noise observations can be used.
