Sequencer Site SIRTF IOC Activity c. 2002

CAID: MIPS-285 Title: Scan Map of Large Planetary Nebula or SNR

System: MIPS Principal: wlatter Deputy:
Objective:
Initial validation of scan AOT. Verify scientific
validity of MIPS Scan pipeline products

Could be an ECO.

Description:
Acquire normal scan map observations of an
available stellar remnant with large spatial
extent.
Slow scan rate, 30 arcminute square field, 5.0
arcmin leg offsets, 1 cycle, 6 legs.
*Presently 2hrs*

Can be the same as: Evaluate fully supported
AOTs (MIPS Scan)

Day:   69.7173611111139 Suggested Order:   Q800

Must be preceded by these activities (list by CAID):   MIPS-326

Place in Schedule:   After aperture door open After CTA/instrument cool down and all other instrument testing is complete. For 160um, the backgrd radiance must be less than 5.4E-13 W/cm2/sr (< 6 - 7 K). After MIPS functionality testing is complete. Can be concurrent with other AOT/instrument tests.

Priority:   Necessary

Conditions

Maximum telescope temperature: 6 K

Minimum telescope temperature: 5.5 K

Should activity be repeated if focus changes?   No     Repeat if focus changes by 0 mm

Maximum absolute pointing uncertainty: 1.4 arcsec (1 sigma radial)

Maximum precision offset uncertainty: 0.4 arcsec  (1 sigma radial)

Go/No Go criteria:

Resources

Duration:   125 minutes

Real time downlink:   No

Data Volume (uncompressed): 160 Mbits

List Blocks, AORs, SERs, IERs, or unique sequences required (uplink): Standard pipeline system and standard data analysis tools required. MIPS Scan AOT required for uplink.

List Analysis tools required (downlink):   Standard astronomical data processing tools.

Outcome

Estimate of data turn around:   0 hours

Description: Fully calibrated MIPS scan map data products in three bands.

Can proceed in parallel with other activity: No

Must outcome be confirmed before next activity: No

Method of Confirmation:   Data analysis

Success criteria: Nominal execution of instrument and S/C with no obvious command failures. Extreme solar activity can invalidate the data - determined through analysis.

Contingency plan:  Revisit pipeline and/or AOT design depending on the nature of failure.
