Sequencer Site SIRTF IOC Activity c. 2002

CAID: MIPS-290 Title: Scan Map of Protostellar Region

System: MIPS Principal: alberto Deputy: jmuzerolle
Objective:
Verify scientific validity of MIPS Scan pipeline
products.
A possible target is the HH7-11 region which is a
bright source of 100Jy at 50um, with some
diffuse gas.

Could be an ECO.

Description:
Acquire normal scan map observations of the HH
7-11 region over a field 1.0 degree square
field.
MEDIUM scan rate, 60 arcminute square field, 5
arcmin leg offsets, ONE cycle.

Can be the same as: Evaluate fully supported AOTs
(MIPS Scan)

Day:   78.2951388888905 Suggested Order:   R800

Must be preceded by these activities (list by CAID):   MIPS-326

Place in Schedule:   After apertrue door open After CTA/instrument cool down and all other instrument testing is complete. For 160um, the backgrd radiance must be less than 5.4E-13 W/cm2/sr (< 6 - 7 K). After Scan AOT functionality testing is complete. Can be concurrent with other AOT/instrument tests.

Priority:   Desired

Conditions

Maximum telescope temperature: 6 K

Minimum telescope temperature: 5.5 K

Should activity be repeated if focus changes?   No     Repeat if focus changes by 0 mm

Maximum absolute pointing uncertainty: 1.4 arcsec (1 sigma radial)

Maximum precision offset uncertainty: 0.4 arcsec  (1 sigma radial)

Data Volume (uncompressed): 290 Mbits

List Blocks, AORs, SERs, IERs, or unique sequences required (uplink): Standard pipeline system and standard data analysis tools required. MIPS Scan AOT required for uplink.

Outcome

Estimate of data turn around:   0 hours

Description: Fully calibrated MIPS scan map data products in three bands.

Can proceed in parallel with other activity: No

Must outcome be confirmed before next activity: No

Method of Confirmation:   Data analysis

Success criteria: That we can scan map protostellar regions, obtaining calibrated artifact free images.

Contingency plan:  Revisit pipeline and/or AOT design depending on the nature of failure.

Additional Comments:
Required Conditions: CTA and instrument at nominal operating temperature for 160 micron band (mirror at 6 K). Note: This region has very bright IR sources -- this test can investigate how much of an impact there will be in an AOR.
