CAID: MIPS-300 | Title: SED Skeleton AOT Validation | |
System: MIPS | Principal: psmith | Deputy: |
Objective: | Explore MIPS SED AOT parameter space |
Description: | Execute MIPS SED AOT for a sensible range of parameters with a bright point source (~1 Jy flux standard at 70 microns) as the target. Valuable diagnostics on SED-mode performance and calibration can be gained if the chosen target is a flux calibtation star. The SED AOT front end allows two integration times (3 and 10 seconds) as well as 4 different chop configurations (1, 2, 3, and -1 arcminutes). For a skeleton AOT, I would like to test both integration times, all chop configurations, and multiple cycles in one of those chop configurations and in both integration times (to look for any timing problems). Because the useful SED range is little more than 3 arcminutes, the on-source position can't be in the same place for both positive and negative chops (i.e., to get all the way from -1 arcminutes to +3, we'd need a 4-arcminute range). I have chosen to make the on-source position the same for all the positive chops (at 3100 SCANABS counts) and to move the on-source position for the -1 arcminute chop to the sky position for the +1 arcminute chop (at 3204 SCANABS counts). Thus, the S/C will have to maintain two different locations for SED mode: 1 for positive chops and 1 for negative chops. Tests to run: AT ON-SOURCE POSITION 1: 1) chop=1, itime=3, cycles=1 (mips_sed_itime3_chop1_cycle1.exp) 2) chop=1, itime=10, cycles=1 (mips_sed_itime10_chop1_cycle1.exp) 3) chop=1, itime=3, cycles=7 (mips_sed_itime3_chop1_cycle7.exp) 4) chop=1, itime=10, cycles=7 (mips_sed_itime10_chop1_cycle7.exp) 5) chop=2, itime=3, cycles=1 (mips_sed_itime3_chop2_cycle1.exp) 6) chop=3, itime=3, cycles=1 (mips_sed_itime3_chop3_cycle1.exp) AT ON-SOURCE POSITION 2: 7) chop=-1, itime=3, cycles=1 (mips_sed_itime3_chop-1_cycle1.exp) |
