Objective

Determine the trade-offs between 24 µm latency and glow affecting the 160 µm array as a function of Si:As array operating temperature.

Description

In this task, a photometry AOR of a 24 µm bright star will be interleaved with 24 and 160 µm darks. This set of observations will be repeated at a variety of Si:As array temperatures from 5.0 to 5.5 K. The purpose is to determine at what temperature the glow from the Si:As array becomes apparent at 160 µm. From the 24 µm perspective, we would like to operate at as high a temperature as possible.

Data Collected

This task is implemented by commanding the following AORs and IERs: mips_345.aor mips_24um_T50.exp mips_drk24um_30s15.exp mips_345.aor mips_drk160um_10s35A.exp mips_24um_T52.exp mips_drk24um_30s15.exp mips_345.aor mips_drk160um_10s35A.exp mips_24um_T55.exp mips_drk24um_30s15.exp mips_345.aor mips_drk160um_10s35A.exp mips_24um_T52.exp The target is NGC 2516 a star cluster with several members bright enough for 24 µm photospheric detection. It is presumed that extragalactic sources will provide the 70 and 160 µm targets.
