Objective

This task images a red, featureless source that can be used to check the cross-calibration between MIPS IRS.

Description

This task uses a standard photometry AOT at 24µm to observe a red, non-variable AGN with no PAH features observed previously with ISO SWS. The target will be IRAS 23060+0505, which is also being observed by IRS in their IOC task 191. The target is expected to be about 400 mJy at 24µm and thus it will be observed using our standard star AOR: 2 cycles of 3s DCEs. The target is observable from Jun 1 to Jul 15.

Data Collected

This AOR will generate 30 images of the target and should produce data similar to our standard-star observations. The AOR listed below takes 6 minutes to execute, much less than the 24 minutes allocated for this task.

Data Analysis

The analysis will be very similar to the routine 24µm calibration task, mips-920, except that we will not be measuring the flux conversion factor. The data should be calibrated and the measured flux at 24µm compared to the value measured by IRS.

Software Requirements

Actions Following Analysis

Communicate the results to the IRS team (specifically, the leads of IRS IOC task 191) and the SSC Calibration Working Group. The blue (i.e., stars) and red (this task) cross-calibration between MIPS and IRS will be compared and a report communicated to the Calibration Working Group and the instrument P.I.s.

Failure Modes and Responses

Check against spectral leak check data from MIPS 240. If no leak in MIPS 240, look at color correction and IRS calibration. Set caution flag for observers, and reobserve during routine calibration.
