Sequencer Site SIRTF IOC Activity c. 2002

CAID: MIPS-916 Title: 160 um IC - routine, Scan AOR

System: MIPS Principal: aalonso Deputy: dfrayer
Objective:
To obtain IOC acceptable 160 um scan illumination
correction to be used on a regular basis. This
particular flat has a celestial coordinate
appropriate for 160 um. If MIPS-914 or MIPS-195
are adequate at 160 um as well as at 24um and 70um
respectively, then this task may not be needed.

This activity is a companion to the 160 um IC
ROUTINE Phot AOR. The pair of activities will
allow us to determine the relative efficiency and
quality of flatfields created using scan and
photometry AORs.

Description:
A 2 degree long (1 leg) scan map will be obtained
using the fast-scan AOT in a region of the sky
chosen to avoid bright point sources. This will
produce a total of 118 images to be median
combined to produce a 160 um IC. The map will
require about 12.7 minutes of observing time.

It will be necessary to check the quality of the
160um IC as when the data are taken in fast mode
a filled map is not produced in a single pass. If
this introduces artifacts, it may be necessary to
repeat the IC at medium scan rate.

Outcome

Estimate of data turn around:   24 hours

Description: A 160um illumination correction for scan AORs.

Can proceed in parallel with other activity: No

Must outcome be confirmed before next activity: No

Method of Confirmation:   data analysis

Success criteria: Flats/I.C.s display no noticeable source residuals, have good S/N. Flattened/I.C.d FPS and AOT validation data sets have source signal independent of position in image.
