SIRTF IOC Activity

CAID: MIPS-917 Title: 24 um Flat - routine, Phot AOR

System: MIPS Principal: aalonso Deputy: sstolovy
Objective:
To obtain IOC acceptable 24um photometry flat
fields to be used on a regular basis. This
activity is a companion to the 24 um Scan ROUTINE
Phot AOR. The pair of activities will allow us to
determine the relative efficiency and quality of
flatfields created using scan and photometry AORs.

Description:
A 4 point dither map (1 cycle) will be obtained
with 3 second DCEs in a region of the sky
chosen to avoid bright point sources. The offsets
between positions are 400 arcseconds. At each
position of the dither pattern there will
be 14 images, so a total of 54 images will be
obtained each time the task is executed. The map
will require about 10.3 minutes of observing time.

Day:   33.0284722222277 Suggested Order:

Must be preceded by these activities (list by CAID):   MIPS-320

Place in Schedule:   Start of each campaign that requires flat fields at this wavelength and in photometry mode. MIPS CE, CSMM, stim operation nominal. CTA temperature within range, and MIPS temperature stable. 24um background falls below 1% of 25MJy/sr, the medium sky background level, at 25K, so it should be possible to obtain good data for this activity for CTA temperatures below that even if the CTA temperature is changing.

Priority:   Critical

Conditions

Maximum telescope temperature: 33 K

Minimum telescope temperature: 5.5 K

Should activity be repeated if focus changes?   No     Repeat if focus changes by 0 mm

Maximum absolute pointing uncertainty: 3 arcsec (1 sigma radial)

Maximum precision offset uncertainty: 1 arcsec  (1 sigma radial)

Observatory configuration: standard

Go/No Go criteria:

Resources

Duration:   11 minutes

Real time downlink:   No

Data Volume (uncompressed): 119.6 Mbits

List Blocks, AORs, SERs, IERs, or unique sequences required (uplink): use phot mode AORs

List Analysis tools required (downlink):   standard pipeline

Outcome

Estimate of data turn around:   24 hours

Description: A 24um flat flatfield to be used in photometry mode

Can proceed in parallel with other activity: No

Must outcome be confirmed before next activity: No

Method of Confirmation:   data analysis

Success criteria: Flats/I.C.s display no noticeable source residuals, have good S/N. Flattened/I.C.ed FPS and AOT validation data sets have source signal independent of position in image.
