Everett Schlawin's Homepage

Welcome to Everett Schlawin's Homepage

I am interested in research, teaching and outreach related to Astronomy. My particular research focus is extra-solar planets or exoplanets. These are the planets that are way beyond Neptune and Pluto, which orbit other star systems or even float in the space between the stars. I observe exoplanet atmospheres, such as the one diagrammed here on top of a yellow star. The colors of an absorbing exoplanet atmosphere tell astronomers what the atmosphere is made of. That is why I make and interpret observations of exoplanet atmosphere colors (spectra). As a scientist who participates in publically funded projects and missions, I also believe it is my duty to communicate astronomical discoveries to the public.

About This Site

This site has circular content containers to keep in the theme of stars and transiting planets. Content too large to fit in the circle will flow down the page, so if something appears to end abruptly, try scrolling downward. Some pages, such as Teaching and Research, have sub-banners within them for further navigation.
